If duplicates are found, it should be checked whether the original printer entry can be used for printing. Microsoft suggests the following procedure: Affected users should navigate in the Settings app via “Bluetooth & Devices” to “Printers & Scanners” and search for duplicates of printer names in the printer configuration. Until a correction update is available, those affected must make do with workarounds. Programs, which were connected so far with the printer, cannot be used in consequence of this structure change of the connected printer devices any longer for printing. The existing printer name is either duplicated or once with the addition “Copy1”. Microsoft points out that the problem is probably central in the fact that printers are displayed twice in the context of the updates. The last time the update error 0x80244022 occurred was in February. The latest problem thus continues the long history of faulty Windows updates. Where exactly the error lies, however, is unknown. It is also known that the printer problems are triggered by the preview update KB5014666 from June 28, 2022, as well as the security update KB5015807 from July 12, 2022.
